Another disadvantage that is affecting the industry is that CNC machining is making manual machining obsolete or in other words, it is making it useless for the operators of manual machining to acquire skills. But some experts argue that these skills will not become irrelevant and manual skills will be useful in producing small-scale specialty projects.

On the other hand, fused-deposition modeling is another available option. Its example is 3D printing technology. 3D printing technology is relatively cheap and for businesses that produce prototypes. It has limited types of material that can be used in producing the components. This technology has its limitations and it is still being developed.
